  The station
A successful blend of brick and stone, iron and glass, the station was built in 1905 by Sydney Dunnett, the architect who built the Orsay station in Paris. The huge central building is linked to two pavilions that originally housed a restaurant, a buffet, a refreshment stall, a hotel, flats, offices, a waiting room, telegraph, a toll, and a police station... A 28 metres long train hallway.
